Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski addressed the Pope over his remarks about the need for Ukraine to show “white flag” courage and start negotiations

The Polish minister believes that the Pope should now address Russian President Vladimir Putin, demanding that he withdraw occupation troops from Ukraine.

“How about, for balance, calling on Putin to have the courage to withdraw his army from Ukraine?” wrote Sikorski.

The minister was clear that if Putin were to withdraw his troops from Ukraine, peace would come immediately and there would be no need for negotiations.

Pope Francis, when speaking out about the war in Ukraine, called on Kyiv to show “white flag” courage and negotiate. After his remarks resonated, a Vatican spokesman clarified that “negotiations are never a surrender”.
