Seventy senators supported the bill, while 29 opposed it. The legislation will now proceed to the US House of Representatives for further deliberation.

It’s important to note that Mike Johnson, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, has already expressed his opposition to the bill, highlighting the failure to secure US borders as a key issue rendering the bill unacceptable.

Previously, the allocation of $95 billion in US military aid was stalled in Congress due to disputes over immigration policy and border security measures against illegal immigration.

The efforts to reach a compromise agreement were ultimately thwarted by Donald Trump, the 45th President of the US, who urged his party’s loyalists to reject the bill.

Furthermore, Trump sought to sway the Senate’s decision, advocating against the provision of military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. He suggested that the $95 billion could be offered as loans rather than grants to these nations.
