The European External Action Service has developed a new way of providing military support to Kiev worth more than €20 billion. This mechanism will allow Hungary to bypass the veto by Hungary imposed on the aid package through the European Peace Facility, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing the draft plan.
According to the project, it is planned to redirect part of the remaining assets of the European Peace Fund to the new fund and further replenish it by five billion euros annually from 2024 to 2027.
The funds from the new fund, as the publication writes, will be used to compensate for the costs of EU countries on joint purchases of weapons and military training programs for the Ukrainian military. This year, according to the plan, the European Union may allocate €7.5 billion for such compensation.
