UN Assistant Secretary General Khaled Khiari urged the warring sides not to attack populated areas, civilian facilities and civilians at a Security Council meeting in connection with the Russian-initiated strike on Belgorod.
“We unequivocally condemn all attacks on cities, towns and villages in both Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law, are unacceptable and must stop immediately,” Khiari said.
