Caterina Giovinazzo, 88, from the italian town Camporosso, died of a heart attack after she received a bill for more than 15,000 euros for three months of water usage. About half of the bill had been written off by the supplier company, leaving the pensioner with no savings.
It turned out that the supply company had made a mistake and had miscalculated the water consumption: Caterina Giovinazzo should have paid only 55 euros.
